The short version

We collect the minimum needed to run a paid research newsletter: your email address, a payment identifier from Stripe, and basic anonymous page analytics. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not profile you.

What we collect

  • Email address. Provided by you when you request a sign-in link or subscribe. Used for authentication, receipts and the daily digest.
  • Subscription status. Plan, status and current period end, synced from Stripe. We never receive or store card numbers.
  • Stripe customer identifier. A reference used to open the billing portal on your behalf.
  • A session cookie. An HTTP-only cookie that keeps you signed in. It carries your email and plan, is not readable by JavaScript, and is set only after you complete a sign-in.
  • Anonymous page analytics. A page-view event with the path and, if you are signed in, your email so we can tell paying readers apart from anonymous traffic. No IP address or device fingerprint is stored.
  • Browser-only bookmarks. Saved-idea lists live in your browser’s local storage and are never transmitted to us.

What we do not collect

  • — No passwords, because authentication is by email link only.
  • — No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • — No third-party analytics or session-recording scripts.
  • — No data about your browsing outside this site.

Who processes data

We use a small number of processors: Stripe for payments and subscription billing, an SMTP provider for transactional email, and our hosting provider for serving the site. Each receives only what is needed to perform its function.

Source posts

Ideas are derived from public posts in public communities. We do not collect personal profiles, we do not deanonymise authors, and we do not reproduce long excerpts of anyone’s writing. If you are the author of a source post and want it excluded, email us and we will remove the associated idea.

Retention and deletion

Account records are kept while your account exists. Deleting your account removes your email, subscription status and analytics events linked to your email within 30 days. Billing records Stripe is legally required to keep are retained by Stripe under its own policy.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, correction of it, or deletion of it, and you can unsubscribe from the digest at any time. Email editor@painradar.io and we will action the request within 30 days.
